Quite remarkable. Not unprecedented, since according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unrecovered_flight_recorders Eastern Air Lines flight 980 crashed at an altitude of 6000m into the Andean peak Mt. Illimani and that neither flight recorder was recovered. So, in 50 years it has happened 3 times that no recorders were recovered from a plane crash on land. Once in 1985, twice on September 11, 2001. Of course, some people are skeptical... Robin 11:38, 28 December 2013 (PST)
