Chris Hedges -- Meijin 18:10, 21 November 2013 (PST)
I can't work Hedges out. One the one hand, he loves to tell people about how quickly the East German regime fell, in contrary to everyone's expectations. On the other, he makes a parallel as despairing as this, likening US society to Ahab's whaling voyage. He is an elegant speaker, and on a lot of topics he cuts through a lot of the crap, but he seems to overlook how much of the world would actually rejoice when corporatocracy falls. Is he perhaps overinfluenced by living in the belly of the beast?

If I had Spent as much time in some of the places he has, and witnessed the complacency of the people he has warned in the past, I would wonder about the apathy of his current readers as well.
