"Mayan Apocalypse" is a straw man -- Dave Pierce 18:50, 23 December 2012 (PST)
Robin, thank you for another fine show.
Apropos of your mention of the so-called Mayan Apocalypse failing to materialize, I hereby note that neither the Maya calendar nor the Maya people made such prediction; rather, the end of the long-count calendar signified a new baktun, or beginning.
Something fundamental did happen, is in progress, and I have no illusions that you will necessarily agree, especially as the changes are yet mostly beyond the level of conscious awareness, and you may be a person who requires something resembling scientific evidence - although I do not know this; the whole "apocalypse" business (and what an inappropriate word to use in order to signify worldwide destruction, as it actually means, "revealing") was put in place by a fearful corporate controllership that hoped to misdirect our attention from a magnificent moment requiring our full participation. The shift had and has nothing to do with destruction and everything to do with listening nonjudgmentally to others when they come to us with their stories of suffering, and to being compassionate.
With love, Dave
