A former policy analyst for Food First, Raj Patel is a visiting scholar at the UC Berkeley Center for African Studies. He has written for the Los Angeles Times and the Financial Times, and though he has worked for the World Bank and the UN, and interned for WTO, he's also been tear-gassed on four continents protesting them. His books reveal unsettling truths of the world's food system, but also an increasing grassroots resistance to the oil-based agribusiness model. Politically, he says he is "someone who has very strong anarchist sympathies". He released The Value of Nothing, was on The New York Times best-seller list during February 2010. See Also
